DEPTH FOOTWEAR

Depth Footwear, as defined by Medicare, has a full length (heel to toe filler), when removed provides a minimum of 3/16” of additional depth to accommodate custom or customized inserts. They are made of leather or suitable material of equal quality. It also must have a shoe closure and be available in full and half sizes with a minimum of three widths.

These shoe models identified by the NBRx Logo have been reviewed by PDAC and having received the HCPCS coding of A5500 are considered therapeutic and suitable for persons with diabetes. Fit, however, is of critical importance. All therapeutic footwear purchases should be first fitted by a qualified allied medical professional before wearing. These shoes are available over-the-counter with or without a prescription. Therapeutic footwear offered through this site does not treat, cure, diagnose, or prevent any disease.
