The Brown family recently announced Kurt Brown’s promotion to President of Brown’s Enterprises, Inc.  Kurt is a third-generation family member who has served the company for almost 20 years.  In the past 10 years he has worked to position himself in guiding the company.  As the family celebrates its 70th year in business, Kurt has led the company through much needed change, adjustment, staff maintenance and growth.

Kurt graduated from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, MO, with a B.S. degree in Communications and Business, in 2003.  As a student athlete there, Kurt played Division 3 basketball.  He entered Brown’s Enterprises in 2001 and has held many sales and management positions.  Additionally, Kurt participated in Next Generation learning and training seminars provided by the National Shoe Retailers Association, which is headquartered in Tucson, AZ.  His community volunteer efforts include serving on the Fontbonne University Council of Regents and the Wildwood, MO YMCA Executive Board.  He is also actively involved with Toys for Tots and Five Acres Animal Shelter.

Kurt is married to Elizabeth Shenk Brown who is an Assistant Vice-President at Gershman Commercial Real Estate in St. Louis, MO.  Kurt and Liz have three fun-loving children: Marshall (6), Violet (4) and Ivy (2).  The family resides on a farm in Labadie, MO, where the kids have developed a love of nature and the outdoors.

Randy and Margit Brown, second generation owners, and their son Chad, who leads the company’s pedorthic efforts as a Board Certified Pedorthist, wholeheartedly congratulate Kurt.  The entire Brown family strives to keep the hopes and prayers of Ransome and Lois (Ma) Brown alive.  In 1950 the founding couple opened Brown’s Family Shoe Store, a multi-line shoe store in Downtown Washington, fulfilling their dream of contributing to the lives of others through love, faith and hard work.

Today the Brown family remains committed to customer service by offering product knowledge and shoe-fitting expertise and technology.
